Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Intermediate Care/Stepdown unit position requiring telemetry reading skills and prior chest tube experience.

Details

• Acute care Intermediate Care (Stepdown) unit with 32 private beds
• Cares for patients with COPD, CHF, diabetes, sepsis, renal issues, DKA, alcohol withdrawal, overdose, pneumonia and other respiratory conditions, and neuro/surgical/cardiac cases
• Manages Bipap, Cpap, tracheostomies, chest tubes, NG tubes, PICC lines, and central lines, including ablation/cath lab and dialysis patients
• Nurse to patient ratio of 3-4 patients per nurse
• Uses EPIC EMR and Pyxis medication dispensing system
• 12-hour night shifts, three shifts per week, with rotating weekends and holidays
• Travelers float first, to ICU (with extensive ICU experience) or Gen Med floors as needed

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required (AHA)
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Must be comfortable reading telemetry strips and managing chest tubes
• EPIC EMR experience preferred

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care across a wide range of medical, surgical, cardiac, and neuro conditions in a stepdown-level acute setting
• Participate in a rotating weekend and holiday coverage schedule
• One day of orientation with the education team and one day of floor orientation
• Scrubs of any color permitted
• Local candidates within 50 miles of the facility are eligible for local pay rates; no radius restriction on eligibility
• COVID vaccination not required for consideration
