Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) Night shift position in Reno, NV, requiring a minimum of 2 years of IMC/Stepdown experience and an active NV RN license.

Details

  • 18-bed Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) within a large, fast-paced 800-bed Level II Trauma Center and Stroke-accredited hospital
  • Patient population includes general medical disease processes such as post ischemic/hemorrhagic stroke, sepsis, cardiac, and respiratory conditions
  • Patients require moderately complex assessments, moderately intensive therapies, and moderate levels of nursing vigilance
  • Schedule is 3x12-hour night shifts per week, with scheduling varying based on department needs including weekends and holidays
  • No on-call requirements
  • Travelers may be required to float to other units up to their competency level
  • Travelers are required to pick up one additional shift per 4-week schedule period
  • Epic EMR used; training provided during orientation or candidates may test out
  • Kronos used for time tracking

Requirements

  • Active NV RN license required prior to start; RNs who have never held a NV temp or permanent license may still be considered and should apply immediately upon offer
  • Current AHA certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
  • Minimum 2 years of IMC/Stepdown experience required
  • Medical/Neuro ICU experience preferred
  • Demonstrated experience with vasopressors, titratable drips, arterial lines, neuro-stepdown patients, procedural sedation, thrombolytics, and trach management required
  • Must pass an ECG/Telemetry exam including reading and interpreting rhythm strips prior to starting (failure results in contract termination)
  • Candidates must reside more than 60 miles from the facility to be eligible

  • Provides comprehensive nursing care using the nursing process for adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients and their families/caregivers
  • Care is coordinated across a multidisciplinary, patient-centered team with a focus on clinical excellence
  • The hospital is the only trauma center between Sacramento and Salt Lake City, serving a 500-mile radius with a volume and pace comparable to a Level I Trauma Center
  • Travelers must be available to work a minimum of 2 of the 3 major holidays (Eve + Day counts as 1 holiday)
  • Travelers who have previously worked at this facility must take a 13-week break after their contract ends before returning, regardless of the number of extensions
  • RTO must be disclosed at the time of submission; time is not added to the end of the contract to compensate for RTO
  • Blocked scheduling is not permitted
  • 13-week contract length
