Job Title: Interventional Radiology Technologist Profession: Radiologic Technologist Specialty: Interventional Radiology Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: AM Hours per Shift: 10 Experience: Minimum 1 year as an Interventional Vascular Specialist, Interventional Radiology Technologist, or Registered Cardiovascular Technologist. License: Required Certifications: ARRT-R (with VI or CV credential) or RCIS (Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist) Must-Have: - Basic knowledge of supply features and applications to procedures. - Knowledge and adherence to sterile technique. - Understanding concepts of radiation safety. - Knowledgeable in vascular anatomy and recognizing different types of lesions. Description: The Interventional Vascular Specialist II precepts new staff and students. Intermediate knowledge of x-ray equipment and troubleshooting is required. Assists in more advanced procedures such as pulmonary thrombectomy, AAA, TEVAR, and FEVAR. Able to assist with complex procedures, including multiple wire exchanges and the use of long wires and OTW balloons. Should be able to use specialty devices such as laser, penumbra, Inari, and shockwave. Circulates, monitors, and scrubs all Interventional Vascular procedures. Troubleshoots imaging equipment, collaborating with biomedical engineers for service. Participates in procedural charging and maintains supply management. Able to act quickly under emergency situations. Able to discuss the plan of action with physicians and assist with high-risk procedures. Cross-trains as needed to support departmental needs. Understands and works with the x-ray system, including panning tables and recognizing different angles. Manages access sites, including proper removal of sheaths, assessment of hematoma, and knowledge of hematoma management. Communicates effectively with team members, patients, families, and medical staff.
