Job Title: Interventional Radiology Tech Profession: Allied Specialty: Interventional Radiology Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Shift Hours per Shift: 8 hours (0800-1630, M-F) Experience: Minimum of 1 year of Cath Lab Tech experience required License: Required License Certifications: BLS, ACLS, ARRT or RCIS required Must-Have: EPIC/Encompass experience and MERGE experience required Description: Interventional Radiology Tech position available. Facility has 174 licensed beds with no trauma designation and not a teaching hospital. Unit includes 7 bays for prep/recovery, 1 Cath Lab, and 1 IR Lab. Department typically sees 2-3 procedures in the morning. If procedures are not scheduled in the afternoon, the Cath Lab will be utilized for procedural overflow cases. Patient types and common diagnoses include cardiac conditions, device placement, and vascular needs. Techs will assist with pacemaker and defibrillator insertion/manipulation, ports, PICCs, arteriograms, nephrostomy tubes, and more. Heavy vascular cases will include lower extremity angiograms, and occasional interventional cases for PE, DVT, and thrombolytics. Tech will perform right and left heart catheterizations with intervention, mostly using radial access with some femoral. Experience in scrubbing and recording cases is required, and cases where competency is lacking must be approved by management. Registered Nurses will handle circulation duties. The team is small, consisting of approximately 20 staff members, including leadership and nursing support. Technological requirements include familiarity with EMR systems, IV pumps, and specific unit equipment. No floating to other departments is expected. Scheduling does not require weekends or call, and holidays will generally be closed on major holidays. Requests for time off should receive manager approval. The culture within the unit is teamwork oriented.
