Job Title: Radiology Interventional Technologist Profession: Radiology Interventional Technologist Specialty: N/A Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Monday - Friday Hours per Shift: 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM Experience: Minimum Years of Experience: N/A License: N/A Certifications: Must have current ARRT certification with Vascular-Interventional Radiography (VI). Must-Have: BLS Certification Description: Under the direction of a Radiologist, specializes in the performance of procedures of an invasive nature to aid in the evaluation of pathological entities as prescribed by a physician. Explains examination procedure to patients and prepares patients for the examination. Obtains additional information about the patient's medical history as necessary. Prepares prescribed contrast media, medications, and IV solutions for administration to patients. Reviews clinical data on requisition, analyzes the anatomical structure of the patient, sets up equipment, and assists the Radiologist in performing complex diagnostic invasive procedures. Prepares and sets up sterile equipment, physiological monitors, pressure injectors, and imaging equipment required for the procedure. Ensures adequate supplies such as needles, catheters, etc. are on hand and properly stored. Replenishes supplies as appropriate. Actively assesses patient condition before, during, and following all procedures. Manually controls the equipment to obtain the proper diagnostic information for the area of the body being studied. May assist with the training of new personnel and/or students who are assigned to the division. Performs all imaging procedures by demonstrating the principles of radiation protection. Resolves any image exceptions and ensures high-quality image delivery into the PACS, including viewing of images into PACS and confirming image/series counts. Completes all study indexing, including study begin, study end, and the completion of the study in the Radiology Information System. Reviews and confirms with Radiologist clinical protocols before performing study. Demonstrates on a consistent basis Team Member Standards of Excellence, including open communication, responding in a timely manner, displaying a positive attitude, fostering innovation, and respecting diversity. Performs quality assurance procedures as appropriate. Documents in the medical record as necessary, as well as within the radiology information system to support all clinical and billing functions. Performs related functions according to department protocols. Utilizes independent judgment in determining appropriate imaging techniques, patient positioning, and safety practices.
