Job Title: Interventional Technologist I Profession: Interventional Technologist Specialty: - Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Days Hours per Shift: 10 Experience: Minimum years of experience required License: ARRT (RT) required Certifications: BLS, ACLS required Must-Have: - Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association required upon hire. - ARRT (RT), RCES or RCIS certification required within 18 months of hire. Description: The Interventional Technologist I assists Physicians with minimally invasive, image-guided procedures to diagnose, monitor and treat conditions, defects, and diseases without surgery. This position is intended for those gaining experience in Interventional Radiology or Invasive Cardiology, or experienced Imaging professionals who wish to begin a career in the discipline. Assists Providers in performing minimally invasive procedures including cardiac catheterization, electrophysiology, angiography, device implantation, biopsies, thrombectomy, embolization, and pain management. Utilizes a variety of specialized radiologic equipment and techniques to perform a diverse range of diagnostic, interventional, and invasive procedures in accordance with established practice guidelines. Ensures procedures are performed safely and with the highest quality standards, maintaining a consistent focus on patient care. Assists in preparing patients for procedures and providing comfort. Acts as a scrub tech while assisting Providers during procedures. Maintains a strict sterile field adhering to safety protocols. Responds to inquiries from patients and family members, providing clear information regarding diagnostic testing and expected result timelines. Collaborates with team members to provide exceptional patient care. Conducts post-testing quality reviews to confirm that all required elements are completed, documented, and align with departmental and accreditation standards. Transfers images and data to the appropriate health system, enters technical data/findings, and prepares study for reporting by physician. Performs quality control checks, cleaning, disinfecting, and other equipment maintenance tasks per manufacturer instructions and regulatory guidelines. Assists with quality assurance, audits, and performance improvement tasks as requested. Provides on-call clinical coverage outside regularly scheduled duty hours on weekdays, weekends, and holidays as assigned. May support academic partnerships by actively engaging in teaching of students in the radiologic program. May serve as a departmental preceptor to provide instruction and mentorship to newer team members. Assists with onboarding of new team members. Performs other duties as assigned. Demonstrates knowledge and skill in applying principles of medical imaging, positioning of patients, and medical ethics. Applies core knowledge and understanding of anatomy and physiology associated with specialty imaging procedures. Demonstrates ability and skills to apply theory, practices and techniques to perform, post-process, analyze and annotate study data or procedure documentation. Applies knowledge of sterile fields consistently ensuring a safe environment for the patient. Displays strong verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age and patient populations served. Demonstrates knowledge of and ability to apply guidelines and standards.
