Job Title: Interventional Technologist I Profession: Interventional Technologist Specialty: - Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Days Hours per Shift: 10 hours Experience: Entry-level Interventional Technology experience required; preferred cath lab experience License: - Certifications: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by the American Heart Association required upon hire. ARRT(RT), RCES, or RCIS certification required within 18 months of hire. Must-Have: - Completion of an associate degree or above in Radiologic Technology or a 2-year RCIS program. Description: The Interventional Technologist I assists Physicians with minimally invasive, image-guided procedures to diagnose, monitor, and treat conditions, defects, and diseases without surgery. This position is intended for those gaining experience in Interventional Radiology or Invasive Cardiology. The role includes assisting Providers in performing procedures such as cardiac catheterization, electrophysiology, angiography, device implantation, biopsies, thrombectomy, embolization, and pain management. Utilizes a variety of specialized radiologic equipment and techniques. Ensures procedures are performed safely and with high-quality standards. Prepares patients for procedures while providing comfort. Acts as a scrub tech while assisting Providers during procedures. Maintains a strict sterile field adhering to safety protocols. Responds to inquiries from patients and family members, providing clear information regarding diagnostic testing and expected result timelines. Collaborates with team members to provide exceptional patient care. Conducts post-testing quality reviews to confirm that all required elements are completed, documented, and align with standards. Transfers images and data to the appropriate electronic health system, enters technical data/findings, and prepares studies for reporting by physicians. Performs quality control checks, cleaning, disinfecting, and other equipment maintenance tasks. Assists with quality assurance, audits, and performance improvement tasks as requested. Provides on-call clinical coverage outside of regularly scheduled hours as assigned. May engage in teaching of students in the radiologic program. May serve as a departmental preceptor to provide instruction and mentorship to new or less experienced team members. Assists with onboarding of new team members. Performs other duties as assigned. Schedule includes 4-10 hour shifts with a rotating day off and call as needed. Candidates are welcome even without travel and trauma experience. Demonstrates knowledge and skill in applying principles of medical imaging, positioning of patients, and medical ethics. Applies core knowledge of anatomy and physiology associated with specialty imaging procedures. Demonstrates ability to apply theory, practices, and techniques to perform and analyze study data. Maintains a safe environment for the patient by applying knowledge of sterile fields. Demonstrates strong verbal and written communication skills. Shows consistency and dependability by reporting to work as scheduled. Exhibits sensitivity to patients' physical and psychological needs. Maintains accurate records and works accurately with names, numbers, and codes.
