Description: Under immediate to general supervision and direction of a mentor/preceptor, this entry-level position works to achieve the initial competencies required to deliver specialized cardiovascular and/or radiologic technology services to adult and/or pediatric patient populations. The purpose of this role is to aid medical staff in the diagnosis, care, treatment, and surveillance of simple to complex conditions, defects, and/or diseases. Utilizing entry-level knowledge, abilities, and skills, the technologist provides safe, high-quality, efficient, and cost-effective patient-centric care and support services under routine or emergent conditions. This position works in a variety of care settings, including acute inpatient facilities, outpatient physician practices, diagnostic and urgent care centers, and remote outreach clinics. Responsibilities include preparing patients for procedures and correlating clinical history with procedures ordered by physicians. Effective communication and collaboration with patients, families, and other members of the multidisciplinary care team are essential to identify and implement the actions necessary to achieve desired clinical outcomes and service expectations. The technologist utilizes specialized cardiovascular and/or radiologic equipment and techniques to perform a diverse range of diagnostic, interventional, and/or surgical procedures in accordance with established scope of practice guidelines. Post-procedure, the technologist conducts reviews to confirm that all required elements are completed and documented, ensuring technical quality is consistent with established department protocols and accreditation standards. They are responsible for transferring images and data to the appropriate archival systems, entering technical data and findings, and preparing studies for reporting by physicians. The role also involves performing operator-level quality control checks, cleaning, high-level disinfecting, and other user maintenance per manufacturer instructions and regulatory guidelines. Participation in continuing education, professional development, and research activities is expected to maintain competencies and promote continuous improvement in care and treatments. Additional responsibilities include performing other duties as assigned.
