Shift: Day - 8x5 - 07AM Description: Perform routine diagnostic radiological procedures and services as appropriate. Adhere to radiation safety policies and procedures in accordance with departmental policies. Send appropriate image series to the radiologist for reading according to established protocols. Correctly position the patient for the examination and make necessary technical adjustments. Determine if any special patient preparation is required. Process digital images and submit for interpretation by radiologists. Document all procedures and maintain records in accordance with policy. Perform system calibrations and quality control tasks as directed. Recognize artifacts and equipment errors and notify designated personnel of outlying values. Initiate repair call procedures for equipment malfunctions. Report problems to the appropriate section and record the problem condition in the logbook. Observe and report to the radiologist any symptoms that have direct bearing on the patient's condition due to adverse reactions. Recognize the need for and institute necessary emergency measures for situations requiring resuscitation. Correlate the patient's clinical history with the requested examination and obtain results from previous diagnostic tests. Consult with staff physicians regarding the patient's past medical history and preliminary diagnosis. Recognize normal anatomic variants and changes created by medical procedures. Document arrival, departure, and completed tests as required. Explain processes to patients and assist them in assuming positions for examinations. Assist in compiling and archiving records for procedures performed. Set up and operate imaging equipment to highlight medically significant aspects found during examinations. Perform complex and specialized duties of the technologist, assisting in all aspects of procedures. Serve as primary assistant during interventional procedures, including handling specific equipment and supplies. Prepare, organize, and maintain sterilized surgical setups, responding promptly to each stage of the procedure. Perform clerical duties, including scheduling patients and prioritizing critical procedures. Assist in the training of students and other technologists in principles and techniques. Perform operator-level maintenance and care of equipment. Assist in workload statistics and other records related to activities and functions. Stand call for angiographic and interventional studies needed after normal duty hours on a rotational basis. Adjust techniques based on observed physiological and anatomical conditions and use judgment for deviations when necessary. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of developments in the field of radiology. Requires long periods of standing, walking, and physical movement for room and equipment setup. Positioning patients may require considerable effort and assistance. Perform routine diagnostic radiological procedures and services as appropriate. Adhere to safety policies and procedures in accordance with departmental standards. Qualifications/Requirements: Education: Graduate from an academic program accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) Experience: One year of experience within the last two years as an IR Tech Certification: Certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) Life Support Certification: Possess a current AHA OR ARC BLS Healthcare Provider certification. Security: Must possess ability to pass a Government background check/security clearance.
