Job Title: Rad Tech Profession: Radiologic Technologist Specialty: Interventional Radiology Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Shift Hours per Shift: 10.5 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Not specified Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: - Critical Care Experience - Procedural Area Experience - Moderate Sedation Description: This is a technologist position, not a registered nurse position. The unit primarily focuses on Interventional Radiology procedures. The types of staff on day shift include 3-4 technologists and 3-4 registered nurses. A scheduler/coordinator is also part of the team. Night shift includes call responsibilities. Patient ratios depend on the type of interventional radiology procedure performed. Equipment used includes Discovery 740 IGS and Meditech EMR. Most recruited candidates should have critical care and procedural area experience. Moderate sedation experience is preferred or nice to have. Common procedures performed include biopsies, drain insertion, angiograms, and peripheral vascular procedures. Other procedures include paracenteses, thoracentesis, and various imaging needs. Line placement procedures are also part of the duties. Registered nurses are not required to scrub cases. An outgoing, self-starter personality is preferred, alongside being team-oriented and possessing a positive attitude. There are likely no floating areas, though assistance in other imaging areas may be required. Weekends and on-call duties include 1-2 nights of call per week and 1 weekend of call every 4-5 weekends.
