Job Title: Interventional Radiology Technologist Profession: Radiologic Technologist Specialty: Interventional Radiology Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 10-hour AM Hours per Shift: 40 Experience: Minimum of 2 years in Interventional Radiology License: Texas MRT Certifications: BLS (AHA Only), ARRT preferred Description: The Interventional Radiology Technologist performs interventional radiology procedures on patients as requested by a physician or licensed provider for the diagnosis of disease and injury. This position requires adherence to established protocols. Responsibilities include performing high-quality interventional radiology procedures in a timely manner. Maintaining production and quality of imaging procedures is essential. The technologist must communicate effectively with patients using AIDET to ensure clarity regarding the exam performed. They will instruct patients and their families about the process and assess the patient's ability to tolerate the exam. Preparation for procedures includes positioning patients, adjusting immobilization devices, and moving equipment. The technologist adheres to safety, infection control, drug, and radiation policies and protocols. Proper sterile techniques must be utilized when performing invasive procedures. It is important to maintain cleanliness and quality standards in the work area and equipment. Collaboration with engineers and physicists is required to ensure optimal equipment capabilities. Documentation such as requisitions, patient history, and consent forms must be verified and maintained. Medical imaging records must be accurate and timely for interpretation. Successful candidates will be able to perform tasks independently without routine oversight. A calm and helpful attitude is crucial, especially in stressful situations. Providing first aid and assisting in emergency situations is essential. Customer satisfaction should be prioritized by limiting wait times and remaining professional. Continuous education and skills development are expected to provide appropriate care for various age groups. The technologist may serve as a preceptor for training new team members. Availability for on-call duties is required.
