General Information
o Beds: 5 rooms total: 2 Cath Labs, 1 EP Room, 1 Hybrid Room, 1 IR Room
o Experience: RN & RT 2 years of Cath Lab experience or 2 years IR experience depending on modality of position posted. Cross trained to both modalities preferred
o Will you accept a first-time traveler? No
Patient Types:
o Adults only, inpatient, outpatient
o Intra-procedural only, no pre/post experience needed or performed by staff
o Cath Lab Diagnostic and interventional heart caths, right heart cath, Impella, balloon pump, thrombectomies (with Anarai and Penumbra), high risk procedures, STEMI/MI, some CTOs, PFO closure
o EP Pacemakers (temp and permanent), ablations, MitraClip
o Hybrid AAA repair, Watchman, TAVR, carotids
o IR Peripheral diagnostic and intervention, thrombolysis (EKOS), chest tubes, kyphoplasty/vertebroplasty, paracentesis/thoracentesis, CT/RFA ablations, g-tube placement and exchanges, PICC placement, tunneled catheter placements, nephrostomy tubes, dialysis grafts, drain placements
Patient Ratios:
o 1:1
Required Certifications:
o RN: BLS, ACLS
o RT: IEMA (IL license), ARRT, BLS, ACLS
Skills required
o RN: Circulate, sedate, cardiac rhythm interpretation, Impella, balloon pump. Hemodynamic monitoring experience preferred
o RT: Scrub and pan simultaneously, Impella, balloon pump, hemodynamic monitoring
o RN & RT: Hybrid, EP, IR experience is not required, but it is preferred
Support on the Unit:
o Charge Nurse: Yes, will sometimes take a patient assignment or help fill in for breaks, but typically will not take an assignment
o RT: 24/7
o Hospitalist: 24/7
o Cardiologist: During the day, on call at night
o Transportation is available for IR patients, not Cath Lab
o RRT/Code Team will respond to codes in the lab
Charting System:
o EPIC
o Merge hemodynamic
o GE Cardio (EP)
o Siemens equipment
Floating: If yes, where?
o IR/CL if they have the skillset (depends on modality of posted position)
Orientation: (facility and unit)
o 12 hours of orientation
Scheduling:
o Weekend rotation: only call
o Will they be on call? Yes
10-11 call shifts per
2 weekends per month (F/Sa/Su); included in the 10-11 shifts per month
4p-7a weekdays; weekend is 4p Friday 7a Monday
30-minute response time
Three person call team: 1 nurse, 1 tech, 1 nurse or tech
No sleep rooms
o Holiday Expectations: Closed on holidays, just call team. 1-2 holidays of call per contract
o Approval of time off? To go through manager
