Must-Have:
Strong preference for candidates with Interventional Radiology experience.
Experience in a Level 1 Trauma Center or Comprehensive Stroke Center is highly preferred.
Must have exposure to stroke, trauma, vascular procedures, line placements, and Interventional Radiology procedures.
Candidates with only X-ray Tech experience and no Interventional Radiology background are generally not suitable.
Looking for strong vascular and Interventional Radiology competencies; stroke experience is a major advantage.
Description:
Assists in various invasive angio and interventional procedures performed in the Interventional Radiology Suite.
Organizes surgical scrub and circulation duties for total patient care during and after the procedure.
Monitors patients in the Interventional Radiology area.
Performs specialized radiography and fluoroscopic coverage of interventional and angiographic procedures under the direction of a physician.
Explains the procedure to the patient and prepares the patient for the procedure.
Obtains medications, radiopharmaceuticals, or contrast materials as directed for administration by licensed practitioners or registered nurses.
Circulates during the procedure and maintains responsibility for patient comfort.
Provides necessary supplies for diagnostic and therapeutic invasive procedures.
Removes catheters and sheaths and applies direct pressure or clamps as appropriate.
Provides necessary report information to the holding area or nursing unit as needed.
Records and processes hemodynamic reports and contrast media records promptly and accurately.
Enters patient data and inventory into relevant tracking systems and sends films for review.
Communicates equipment malfunctions to leadership for repairs.
Required to participate in weekend, holiday, and on-call rotations.
Primarily adult patients, with limited pediatric cases; includes both inpatient and outpatient settings.
