Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Interventional Radiology position at a Level II Trauma Center in Montgomery, AL, requiring ACLS and NIHSS certifications with ICU care and moderate sedation skills.
Details
- Hospital-based Interventional Radiology unit with 7 pre/post bays and 2 procedural suites
- Outpatient and inpatient procedures including biopsies, UFEs, kyphoplasties, port placements, diagnostic angiograms, interventional arterial and venous procedures, IVC placement, venous thrombectomies, neurological thrombectomies, coilings, aneurysm rupture repairs, paracentesis, and thoracentesis
- Patient ratio is 1:1 in procedure rooms and up to 1:3 in the pre/post area
- 10-hour day shifts, 40 hours per week, starting at 6:30 AM
- Unit operates for routine procedures Monday–Friday, 6:30 AM–4:30 PM, with 24/7 emergency availability
- On-call requirement is typically every 4th weekend and one night per week (staffing dependent)
- May float to other procedural areas (e.g., cath lab pre/post) when skillset applies
- EMR: Cerner (Plum 360 IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, Spacelabs monitors)
Requirements
- Active AL RN license or compact RN license required (can submit pending, but an ETA is required)
- Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
- Minimum 1 year of IR experience accepted; first-time travelers must have at least 2 years of experience
- ICU care experience required
- Proficiency in moderate sedation, arterial line management, medication titration, and chest tube management required
- One reference from a charge nurse or above from within the past 12 months required for consideration
- DOB (day and month) required for consideration
- Candidates must reside more than 60 miles from the facility to be eligible
Additional Information
- Provides pre/post and intraprocedural nursing care for a wide range of IR procedures including neurological and vascular interventions
- Charge nurse support available on the unit
- Orientation consists of approximately 2 shifts on the unit and 1–2 shifts in education/onboarding
- Holiday coverage is shared equally between core and travel staff; staff are required to cover 1 winter holiday (Christmas, Thanksgiving, or New Year's Day) and 1 summer holiday (July 4th, Memorial Day, or Labor Day)
- Scrubs may be any color; green scrubs are provided when working in the procedure suite
- An interview with the manager is required prior to hire
- Former permanent staff must wait 6 months before being considered as a traveler
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply with at least 2 years of experience
