Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Interventional Radiology position requiring 1 year of IR nursing experience and an active MN RN license.

Details

  • Work in the Interventional Radiology department of a Magnet-designated, Level III Trauma teaching hospital
  • Duties span IR, CT, MRI, and US procedures, as well as Pre/Post (Phase 2 Recovery) care
  • Care includes prep and recovery of procedural patients with moderate sedation for CT, US, and IR cases across both inpatient and outpatient settings
  • Patient ratio is 1:5, with 1:1:1 during procedures and 2-3:1 for pre/post care
  • Handles cases involving biopsies, tubes, lines, drains, lytics, thrombectomies, and neuro, body, vascular, and liver embolization procedures
  • Performs MRI monitoring for pacemaker patients, anxiolysis for exams, and medication administration for nuclear medicine patients
  • Uses Air Pal systems for safe patient movement in IR rooms, ceiling lifts in CT rooms, and NK monitors with EtCO2 monitoring
  • Charts using Epic/Excellian
  • Schedule consists of 10-hour day shifts (0700-1730 or 0800-1830)
  • Occasional weekend and on-call requirements based on availability
  • No floating required outside of scope

Requirements

  • Active or pending MN RN license required
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIHSS preferred
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in Interventional Radiology nursing required
  • Epic/Excellian charting experience required
  • Previous charge experience preferred
  • Skills in End-Tidal CO2 monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation/management, isolation precautions/PPE, and procedural sedation monitoring required
  • Experience with IV therapy, starting and maintaining IVs, and PICC line care required
  • Experience with chest tube placement, lung biopsy, thoracentesis, gastrostomy tube placement, liver ablation/biopsy, and TIPS procedures preferred
  • Experience with implanted port care and maintenance preferred
  • 1 supervisor reference required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care for radiology procedural patients including prep, sedation monitoring, and recovery
  • Administer procedural sedation and reversal agents as needed
  • Scrubs are provided by the facility
  • Candidates must live at least 100 miles from the facility, though local candidates are accepted specifically for this radiology position
  • RTO should ideally not exceed 5 days during the assignment
  • Previous Allina staff or per diem employees must have a 3-month gap since their last shift to be eligible
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Candidates may be required to float within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate hospital
  • Facility does not provide references to travelers post-assignment or to those who previously worked as permanent staff
