Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Labor & Delivery/Postpartum position requiring 2 years of L&D experience and the ability to work in an LDRP setting.

Details

• Level 3 Trauma teaching-exempt hospital with Certified Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center designations
• Unit includes 8 labor rooms, 3 triage rooms, 1 OR suite, and 1 PACU with an average of 4 to 6 patients per day
• Patient population includes labor, delivery, postpartum, and newborn care
• Follows AWHONN staffing guidelines: 1:2 inactive labor, 1:1 active labor, 1:3-4 couplets
• 12hr night shift schedule (1900-0700), 36 hours per week on a 6-week schedule cycle
• Weekend rotation every other weekend
• Low census call possible, with callback up to 3a for nights and 3p for days
• Floating required within Region 3 (Cleveland, Kings Mtn, Lincoln, Central Division including CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH) as needed within scope of practice
• Uses Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, fetal monitors, and Philips newborn monitors

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license required
• BLS, ACLS, EFM, and NRP certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery experience required, with ability to work in an LDRP setting
• Skilled in labor management, cesarean section circulation, pre-op and PACU care, triage, newborn resuscitation, and Pitocin and epidural management
• Last 4 of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
• At least 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

• Provide comprehensive nursing care across labor, delivery, postpartum, and newborn units
• 24/7 charge nurse support and phlebotomy services available for peripheral blood draws
• Respiratory therapy and hospitalist coverage available 24/7 for newborn care
• No dedicated IV/VAT team; resource nurse support available when possible
• Orientation includes new employee orientation (NEO) and 2 days of departmental orientation
• Holiday coverage required for 75% of holidays
• Up to 6 RTO days may be approved, excluding holidays, with contract extension required if hours are not met
• Hospital-issued green scrubs required
• Unit culture emphasizes teamwork
• Free parking provided
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
• Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible
• Previous employees who held a permanent position at an Advocate Health Southeast facility must have been separated for at least 1 year before being eligible
