Job Summary
Registered Nurse Postpartum and Mother-Baby Unit Spokane, WA. This position involves caring for postpartum and low-risk antepartum patients, with an emphasis on neonatal and maternal assessments, education, and support. The role requires independent patient care, discharge teaching, and neonatal vaccinations within a team-oriented environment.
Job Details
- Schedule: 12-hour shifts, from 07:00 to 19:30 and 19:00 to 07:30, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: Valid licensure as a Registered Nurse; at least 1 year of Mother-Baby/Postpartum experience and 2 years of nursing experience; certification in Basic Life Support (BLS); Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) and Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) are preferred.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with breastfeeding assistance, newborn care including vital signs, thermoregulation, managing hypoglycemia, bilirubin levels, Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome (NAS), lab and phlebotomy skills, IV skills (adult), and PKU testing.
- Patient Types: Postpartum and low-risk antepartum patients.
- Patient Ratios: 1:3-4 for antepartum or couplets.
- Support staff on the unit: Receptionist or Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) coverage 7 days per week until 1:00 AM, charge nurses, lactation nurses, clinical nursing assistants, nurse managers on day and night shifts, respiratory therapists 24/7, hospitalist/OB team 24/7, anesthesia in house 24/7, and in-house technology and equipment including EMR, IV pumps, and Pyxis medication dispensing.
- Floating: May be required to float to Mother-Baby and NICU, as well as to medical-surgical units.
- Orientation: 3 shifts with preceptors, including 1 night shift orientation.
- Holiday and RTO Policy: No blackout dates; at least one winter and one summer holiday; RTO requests up to 7 days are permitted.
- Scrubs: Any color scrubs.
- Parking: Designated free parking areas.
