Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN)

We are seeking a dedicated Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse with at least 3 years of experience to provide exceptional care in our L&D/Postpartum unit. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the care of expecting mothers and newborns, delivering high-quality healthcare services in a fast-paced environment.

Unit Overview

• Unit Type: Labor and Delivery/Postpartum
• # of L&D Beds: 7 beds
• # of Triage Beds: 4 triage beds, 2 overflow beds
• # of Postpartum Beds: 27 beds with a 5 bed nursery
• # of Births: Approximately 3 births per day, totaling 1545 births per year
• Certifications Required: ACLS, BLS, NRP, Fetal Monitoring (AWOHNN – Intermediate or Advanced), Stable preferred
• Ratios: Follow AWOHNN guidelines

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care for laboring patients and postpartum mothers.
• Utilize FetalLink for fetal monitoring and document patient information in Cerner EMR system.
• Observe and implement AWOHNN guidelines regarding nurse-to-patient ratios.
• Collaborate with Charge Nurse and resource nurse to ensure optimal unit function.
• Assist with a variety of deliveries, including the circulation during C-sections.
• Participate in the care of high-risk deliveries and patients requiring special attention.
• Support other areas of the unit, floating between L&D and Postpartum, as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of relevant nursing experience required.
• Prior travel nurse experience is preferred.
• Must be willing to work weekends and holidays as required.
• Experience in floating to NICU and assisting with grower/feeders is a plus.
• Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse patient population, including Spanish-speaking patients.

Work Environment

• Shift Length: 12-hour shifts, both day and night available.
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week.
• Weekend Requirement: 4 weekend shifts within a 4-week schedule.
• Call Requirement: Optional but preferred if willing to take on call duties.
• Floor-specific orientation: 3 shifts provided upon onboarding.
