Registered Nurse (RN) - Labor and Delivery

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse for our Labor and Delivery unit. The ideal candidate will join a dynamic team providing exceptional care during all phases of labor, delivery, and postpartum care.

Unit Overview

• Family Birthing Center (L&D, PP & OB) - High-risk unit with couplet care.
• 10 Labor and Delivery beds and 12 postpartum beds.
• Facility handles 140-165 births monthly.
• Compliance with AWHONN guidelines for staffing ratios.
• OB hospitalist available 24/7 with neonatal care provided by on-call specialists.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in Labor and Delivery, including circulating C-sections.
• Participate in couplet care and manage multiple patients effectively.
• Titrate medications, including Pitocin, as required.
• Assist in the postpartum care and education of new mothers and families.
• Work collaboratively with the healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse with a minimum of 2 years of experience in Labor and Delivery.
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, and Advanced Fetal Monitoring (AWHONN).
• Experience in circulating C-sections is essential.
• Ability to float to other areas as required.
• Must be able to read and interpret EKG strips.

Schedule and Work Requirements

• 12-hour night shifts, including weekends and holidays.
• Must be available to work at multiple locations within the region.
• Expected to respond to call within a reasonable time frame when required.
• Holiday scheduling includes working two out of the three major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year).
