Travel Registered Nurse (RN) – Labor & Delivery / OB OR in Austin, Texas

Experienced Labor & Delivery Registered Nurses can join a high-volume Austin, Texas, team on a 13-week travel nursing contract. Provide specialized maternal-child healthcare for labor, delivery, high-risk obstetric care, and cesarean procedures in a 32-bed unit supported by experienced nursing leadership and a collaborative, team-focused culture.

Travel Nursing Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,730–$1,820
• Schedule: 36 hours per week; 12-hour day shifts, 7:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m.
• Shift Pattern: Approximately three 12-hour shifts per week with alternating weekends
• Call: No call requirement
• Contract: 13 weeks, beginning October 5, 2026, through January 4, 2027
• Unit: 32-bed Labor & Delivery department
• Patient Ratios: Typically 1:2, with 1:1 care as clinically indicated
• Documentation System: Meditech
• Openings: 1

Registered Nurse Job Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in Texas
• At least 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery nursing experience
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NRP certifications
• Demonstrated competency in electronic fetal monitoring (EFM)
• Competency in sterile vaginal examinations (SVE)
• Experience circulating cesarean sections in an OB OR setting
• Ability to care for patients undergoing spontaneous vaginal delivery, cerclage procedures, cesarean sections, and trial of labor after cesarean (TOLAC)
• Level IV or high-volume Labor & Delivery experience preferred
• Internal fetal monitor placement competency preferred
• Positive attitude, strong communication skills, and a team-oriented approach
• Willingness to follow unit attendance, safety, and dress-code standards, including navy-blue scrubs

Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to laboring, antepartum, postpartum, and high-risk obstetric patients
• Monitor maternal and fetal status using electronic fetal monitoring and related technologies
• Support spontaneous vaginal deliveries, cesarean sections, cerclage procedures, and TOLAC patients
• Circulate cesarean procedures and collaborate with obstetric, anesthesia, and newborn-care teams
• Recognize changes in maternal or fetal condition and promptly escalate concerns
• Use specialized equipment such as Novii, JADA, Fetal Pillow, intrauterine pressure catheters, fetal scalp electrodes, tocodynamometry, and ultrasound
• Administer medications and treatments safely while maintaining accurate documentation in Meditech
• Promote a supportive, respectful, and patient-centered experience for patients and families
• Collaborate with charge nurses and multidisciplinary team members to maintain safe staffing and quality outcomes
