Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) – Travel Nursing Job in Houston, Texas

Experienced Labor & Delivery RNs can join a collaborative maternal-child healthcare team in Houston, Texas, on a 13-week travel nursing contract. This on-site opportunity offers Registered Nurses the chance to provide compassionate care across labor, delivery, antepartum, cesarean recovery, and PACU settings. • Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Shift: 12-hour day shifts, approximately 7:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m.
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks
• Start Date: November 2, 2026
• End Date: February 1, 2027
• Healthcare Setting: 35-bed Labor & Delivery unit with antepartum, delivery, cesarean, and PACU services

Labor & Delivery RN Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse license eligible for practice in Texas
• At least 1 year of recent Labor & Delivery nursing experience
• AWHONN Intermediate Electronic Fetal Monitoring certification
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NRP certifications
• Ability to provide safe, compassionate nursing care in a fast-paced maternal-child health environment
• Strong clinical judgment, communication, and teamwork skills

Labor & Delivery RN Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care for laboring patients, antepartum patients, and postpartum recovery needs
• Monitor maternal and fetal status using continuous electronic fetal monitoring
• Support vaginal deliveries and assist with cesarean section procedures, including OR circulation
• Care for patients recovering in the PACU following delivery procedures
• Perform or assist with placement of fetal scalp electrodes and intrauterine pressure catheters as appropriate
• Administer and monitor medications and therapies in accordance with established protocols, including Pitocin, cervical ripening agents, magnesium sulfate, hydralazine, and labetalol
• Collaborate with anesthesia, neonatal, laborist, and hospitalist teams to support timely, coordinated care
• Educate patients and families while promoting safe, respectful, and evidence-based maternity care
• Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic medical record and communicate changes in patient condition promptly
