Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Overview

This is a travel assignment for a Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN). The position offers the opportunity to work within a dedicated unit for 13 weeks, focusing on the care of patients during labor, delivery, and postpartum recovery.

Unit Information

• Unit Type: Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum (LDRP)
• Number of Beds: 7
• Staffing: Minimum of 3 staff members, including 2 RNs and 1 OB Surgical Tech on both day and night shifts.
• Patient Ratios: Follow AWHONN acuity staffing ratios.
• Type of Equipment: GE, Centricity Perinatal
• Electronic Medical Record (EMR): EPIC

Responsibilities

The Labor and Delivery RN will be responsible for:

• Providing care for laboring women and their newborns.
• Assisting in the induction of labor and performing vaginal deliveries and cesarean sections.
• Conducting labor triage and antepartum care.
• Participating in the monitoring and resuscitation of newborns as necessary.
• Recognizing and responding to complications in labor and delivery.
• Performing standard procedures including D&C, vaginal repair, NST, and IUFD management.

Qualifications

Candidates for this position must meet the following qualifications:

• Required Skills:
  • Minimum of 1 year of labor and delivery experience.
  • AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring certification.
  • Labor triage experience.
  • OR circulator experience for procedures such as C-section, tubal ligation, D&C, and vaginal repair.
  • Newborn resuscitation experience.
• Preferred Skills:
  • Experience with IUPC/FSE placement.
  • Assisting with JADA/COOKS/BAKRI placement.

Certifications

Mandatory certifications include:

• Registered Nurse (RN)
• Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
• AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring certification

Work Environment

The Labor and Delivery unit may require staff to float as Patient Care Techs as needed during low census periods. The dress code requires royal blue scrubs, which will be provided.

Schedule

Shifts will be scheduled based on unit needs. Weekends may be required as necessary.
