Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN)

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in maternal care, particularly in high-risk situations, and will be proficient in facilitating deliveries and providing support to new mothers and their infants.

Unit Information

• Unit: Birthing Center - Mother Baby (Labor & Delivery)
• Number of L&D Beds: 13
• Operating Room Suites: 2 for C-sections
• Triage Beds: 2
• Postpartum Beds: 14
• Average Births: 170-190 per month

Shifts and Scheduling

• Shift Type: Days
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Weekend Requirements: Every other weekend (Saturday and Sunday)
• Holiday Requirements: Rotate with permanent staff

Required Qualifications

• Years of Experience: 2 years
• Required Certifications:
  • BLS Certification
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
  • Preferred: Intermediate or Advanced Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM)
• Experience/Skills:
  • Must have LDRP experience
  • Comfortable attending deliveries independently
  • Experience circulating in C-sections
  • Ability to assist with delivering and transitioning newborns
  • Familiar with titrating drips (Magnesium, Pitocin, Insulin)

Unit Staffing and Resources

• Nurse Aids/Surgical Techs: One surgical tech available 24/7 and a patient care assistant with clerical duties per shift
• OB/Neonatologist Availability: 24/7 in-house OBGYN/hospitalist and neonatal nurse practitioner
• Anesthesia Availability: OB anesthesia provider available 24/7
• Telemetry Support: Yes, with monitor techs assisting post-operative patients

Orientation and Training

• Unit-Specific Orientation:
  • 8-hour compliance training with a unit-based educator
  • 8-hour Epic training
  • 2-3 shifts for unit-specific orientation
