Registered Nurse (RN) - Labor and Delivery

Position Overview

This position is for a Registered Nurse specializing in Labor and Delivery, providing care in a dynamic birthing center environment. The nurse will work primarily at night, with weekend requirements, and is expected to deliver high-quality care to patients during their labor, delivery, and postpartum phases.

Unit Information

• 13 Labor and Delivery beds
• 2 Operating Room suites for C-sections
• 2 Triage beds
• 14 Postpartum beds
• Average of 170-190 births per month
• In 2025, performed 2,104 deliveries
• AWHONN guidelines for staffing ratios: 1:2 for Labor and Delivery and 1:3-4 for couplets

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive care to patients, including high-risk cases with conditions such as preeclampsia, diabetes, and social/psychological challenges.
• Participate in the independent delivery attendance and assist with C-sections.
• Comfortably assist with newborn transitions immediately after delivery.
• Titrate medications such as Magnesium, Pitocin, and Insulin as needed.
• Collaborate with obstetricians and nurse practitioners, with 24/7 coverage available.
• Utilize electronic fetal monitoring systems as part of patient care.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum (LDRP) nursing.
• Required certifications: BLS certification and NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program).
• Preferred: Intermediate or advanced Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM) credentials.

Shift and Scheduling

• 12-hour night shifts
• Weekend requirements: nights (Friday and Saturday)
• Block scheduling is available upon request
• Rotate holiday requirements with permanent staff
