Labor and Delivery Nurse

Unit Information

Location: Thousand Oaks, CA

• Number of Beds: 9 Labor and Delivery Rooms and 4 additional beds for triage and outpatient testing
• Number of Staff: 43
• Patient Ratios: 1:1, 1:2, 1:3
• Type of Equipment: Hospital beds, GE Novii and wired fetal monitors, OR equipment
• Electronic Medical Record (EMR) System: CPN/Meditech

Job Responsibilities

• Perform vaginal examinations and management of labor and delivery.
• Assist in circulating C-Sections and provide post-operative care.
• Manage care for laboring patients, including those undergoing vaginal delivery and C-Sections.
• Provide care for high-risk antepartum patients, including those with gestational hypertension and gestational diabetes.
• Respond to obstetrical emergencies, including obstetric hemorrhages.
• Deliver initial care for newborns, including support for breastfeeding and assisting with the initial latch.
• Participate in outpatient testing, including Non-Stress Tests (NST), Contraction Stress Tests (CST), and Biophysical Profiles (BPP).
• Engage in OB Triage, OB Emergency Department, and Medical Screening Examinations (MSE).
• Perform procedures including versions and cervical cerclage, as well as administering OP injections.

Qualifications

• Must have excellent critical thinking skills.
• Current certifications in BLS, ACLS, and NRP.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in fetal monitoring.
• Experience in circulating C-Sections and post-operative recovery.
• Ability to care for high-risk obstetric patients and handle obstetrical emergencies.

Preferred Qualifications

• Scrub experience in surgical settings.
• NCC certification in Inpatient Obstetric Nursing (Ip-Ob) or Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM).
