Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a float pool Labor & Delivery position requiring L&D, postpartum, and antepartum experience across multiple women's services facilities.
Details
- Float pool position covering Women's Services across three hospital locations, including antepartum, L&D, and postpartum units
- Patient population includes antepartum patients at 22+ weeks gestation and L&D cases such as PPROM, placenta previa, preeclampsia, diabetes, twins, and other high-risk presentations
- Postpartum assignments include full couplet care with car seat studies; AWHONN guidelines followed for ratios (1:6 for couplet care)
- RNs titrate drips including Pitocin, Insulin, and Magnesium Sulfate
- Charting performed in Epic; Epic experience strongly preferred
- Night shift, 12-hour shifts (7p–7a)
- Schedule is 4x12s with block shifts across facilities; no self-scheduling, shift trades allowed with manager approval
- Weekend requirement: every other weekend
- Travelers are first to float and may be floated mid-shift to different units or facilities within women's services specialty
- No on-call or standby requirement
- Surgical techs available occasionally on floors; charge nurse present on all units on all shifts
- OB Laborist and Neonatologist available 24/7, as well as a dedicated CRNA for anesthesia coverage
Requirements
- Active Idaho RN license or compact RN license in hand at time of consideration; pending licenses not accepted
- Required certifications (must be active, not pending): BLS (AHA or ARC), ACLS (AHA or ARC), NRP, PALS, and STABLE
- Minimum of 3 years of L&D experience required; experience in postpartum and antepartum also required
- Ability to circulate in the OR preferred
- BSN not required
- Valid driver's license required
- 2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
- Strong communication skills and familiarity with chain of command and resource utilization required
Additional Information
- Travelers will receive unit-specific orientation across all sites, totaling approximately 4–5 shifts covering L&D, postpartum, antepartum, and OR at Boise, Meridian, and Nampa locations
- Travelers are assigned via a mobile app and will be notified of their hospital and unit assignment approximately 1 hour before shift start
- All facilities are approximately 20 minutes apart, located off the interstate, with safe parking available at all locations
- Floating responsibilities include moving between antepartum, L&D, and postpartum units across all three regional facilities within the women's services specialty
- Permanent employees of this health system must have been separated for at least one year before being considered for a travel assignment
- Scrubs are provided by the facility
- Holiday coverage is not typically required for travelers, though occasional holiday shifts may be needed
- No blocked scheduling or special scheduling requests will be accommodated; RTO requests should be submitted upfront
- First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible; no local candidates accepted
