‍ Position Overview

The Mother Baby RN provides comprehensive nursing care to postpartum mothers and newborns, including assessments, patient education, medication administration, care planning, and coordination with the multidisciplinary healthcare team.

This role requires strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and a passion for family-centered care.

Responsibilities

• Perform ongoing assessments of postpartum mothers and newborns.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care plans.
• Administer medications and treatments according to physician orders.
• Provide postpartum education and newborn-care instruction to patients and families.
• Monitor patient conditions and communicate changes to providers.
• Coordinate care with physicians, nurses, and ancillary staff.
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.
• Follow hospital policies, regulatory standards, and patient safety guidelines.
• Float to other units within scope of practice when needed.
• Participate in on-call coverage if required.

✅ Requirements

• Active RN license in the state of practice.
• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ASN required; BSN preferred).
• BLS certification – American Heart Association required.
• ACLS, NRP, and PALS may be required based on unit needs.
• Previous Mother Baby, Postpartum, Labor & Delivery, or Women's Health experience preferred.
• Strong assessment, patient education, communication, and critical-thinking skills.
