Labor and Delivery Nurse

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Labor and Delivery Nurse to join our team. The ideal candidate should possess strong clinical skills and a passion for supporting mothers and newborns during labor and postpartum phases.

Minimum Experience

• At least 2 years of nursing experience, with a focus on labor and delivery.
• Comfort and previous exposure to postpartum care is required.

Certifications

• Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
• Fetal monitoring certification

Key Responsibilities

• Perform cervical exams and manage antepartum and labor processes.
• Administer amnio infusions, epidurals, and Pitocin as needed.
• Monitor fetal status and perform IV placements.
• Assist in circulating C-sections.
• Provide support for baby catching/receiving and perform APGAR assessments.
• Educate mothers on breastfeeding and provide guidance on postpartum care through discharge.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with circulating in surgical procedures.
• Comfort with all aspects of postpartum care from transition to discharge for mothers and babies.
• Knowledge of breastfeeding practices.
• Scrub experience is a bonus, although there will be a Scrub Tech on site.

Work Environment

This position is situated within a facility that has the following capacity:

• 20 total beds: 12 for labor and delivery, 8 for postpartum/antepartum, with 3 OB/ED rooms and 2 operating rooms.
• A 6-bed level II NICU is also available.

Technical Proficiencies

Experience with the Epic EMR system is strongly preferred.
