Job Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of New York or eligibility to obtain prior to start
• At least 1 year of recent Labor & Delivery nursing experience
• Postpartum experience preferred
• Strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, and the ability to prioritize patient needs in a fast-paced acute care environment
• Ability to work collaboratively with physicians, leadership, and interdisciplinary care teams
• Comfort working in a unit that may require flexibility to support related Maternal Child Health areas as needed

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to patients within the Labor & Delivery setting
• Assess patients and families and respond to a range of uncomplicated to highly complex needs
• Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans using a person-centered approach
• Support patient and family education throughout the care process
• Demonstrate strong prioritization skills for both expected and unexpected clinical events
• Use sound judgment to identify changes in patient condition and escalate appropriately
• Collaborate with unit leadership and team members to promote safe, effective patient care
• Maintain current knowledge of unit policies, procedures, and standards
• Provide flexibility to float within applicable Maternal Child Health areas and other hospital departments as needed
