Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring a minimum of 2 years of L&D experience and Epic proficiency, working night shifts in a high-volume hospital setting.

Details

  • Labor & Delivery unit with 16 L&D beds, a 6-bed triage area, and an average daily census of 15
  • Patient population includes neonates/infants and adults
  • Case types include vaginal deliveries, C-sections, multiple births, postpartum hemorrhage, pregnancy-induced hypertension, and D&C
  • Facility delivers 200–300 births per month
  • Patient ratio is 1:1–2
  • Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:00
  • Epic charting system required; Pyxis and SBAR also in use
  • 3 weekend shifts required per contract
  • Floating required within the facility and scope of practice as needed
  • On-call requirements apply to AM & PM shift only (2 calls per 6 weeks); night shift call requirements are not specified

Requirements

  • Active GA or Compact RN license required
  • Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP
  • AWHONN Intermediate certification preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of L&D nursing experience required
  • Prior travel nursing experience required; first-time travelers will not be considered
  • Epic charting experience required
  • Proficiency in IV therapy, phlebotomy, infusion pumps, and administration of blood and blood products
  • Skills required: labor and delivery management, amnioinfusion, assist with vaginal and high-risk deliveries, circulate for C-section, forceps/vacuum extraction, hemorrhage/shock management, recover C-section, sterile vaginal exam, external and internal fetal monitoring, IUPC placement and calibration
  • Antepartum skills required: NST, reflex/edema/clonus assessment, triage of OB patients
  • Postpartum care required for cesarean section, multiple births, postpartum hemorrhage, pregnancy-induced hypertension, and vaginal delivery
  • Neonatal delivery room skills required: APGAR scoring, cord sample collection, ID/security banding, radiant warmers/thermoregulation
  • Medication administration experience required: antihypertensives, insulin drips, magnesium sulfate therapy, Pitocin, prostaglandins, and terbutaline
  • Pain management experience required: epidural anesthesia, general anesthesia, and pain assessment
  • Two supervisory references (manager level or above; charge nurses not accepted) are highly preferred
  • Copies of all required certifications must be provided for consideration

Additional Information

  • Scrubs are provided by the facility
  • Charge nurse experience preferred
  • All RTO must be finalized prior to offer; no RTO or schedule changes are permitted post-offer or once onsite
  • RTO is not permitted during the first week of the assignment
  • Maximum of 7 days RTO per contract; Spring Break (April 4–12) is a blackout period for RTO
  • Holiday coverage policy: if 1–2 major holidays fall during the assignment, the traveler is expected to work all of them with no holiday RTO allowed; if 3 major holidays fall during the assignment, the traveler must work 2, and 1 holiday RTO request may be considered
  • Major holidays: Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, and New Year's Eve/New Year's Day
  • No special scheduling or alternate shift requests are accepted; the posted night shift is firm
  • Local candidates are accepted
  • Candidates who have worked at any facility within this health system as permanent, per diem, or float pool staff must be away for a minimum of 1 full year before being considered as a traveler
  • Travelers who have previously canceled or received a do-not-return at one facility must complete one successful assignment outside of this health system before reapplying to another location within it
