Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring ACLS, AWHONN Intermediate, and NRP certifications along with on-call availability.

Details

  • Combined unit servicing L&D (vaginal & cesarean), post-partum, antepartum, and Level II nursery
  • Night shift schedule of three 12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
  • On-call requirement of 36 hours within a 6-week block
  • Patient population includes Level II inpatient obstetrical and Level II NICU neonatal clientele
  • Also cares for GYN/medical overflow, antepartum, observational triage, and border babies
  • Performs obstetric procedures including versions, IOL, cervical ripening, IUFD care, bereavement support, and cesarean sections
  • Staffing ratios include 1:1 for complicated or active labor, 1:3 for stable antepartum, 1:1-2 for unstable antepartum, 1:3-4 for couplet care, 2:1 for delivery, and 1:2-3 for NICU Level II
  • Floating outside specialty may occur, utilizing general nursing skills to assist assigned nurses

Requirements

  • Active RN license (VA or Compact) currently in hand
  • Current certifications: ACLS, AWHONN Intermediate, BLS, and NRP
  • Minimum 2 years of L&D experience required
  • Any charting system experience accepted
  • Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
  • Previous charge experience preferred
  • Skilled in medication administration including Pitocin (oxytocin)
  • Experience with IV therapy/phlebotomy including starting and maintaining IVs
  • Experience in antepartum care and procedures and obstetrical triage
  • Experience with LDRP and recovery care for C-sections
  • bCPAP skills preferred

Additional Information

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care across labor, delivery, post-partum, antepartum, and Level II nursery services
  • Support Mother Baby Couplet Care and Level II NICU patients
  • Facility maintains a zero-tolerance policy for THC, and medical marijuana cards are not accepted
  • Drug screening required both during compliance and again on day one onsite
  • Fit testing is required, and travelers must be clean-shaven unless an approved provider exemption letter is obtained prior to starting
  • Candidates who have worked as permanent staff at the facility within the past 24 months will not be considered
  • RTO expectations scale with holidays falling during the assignment: work one holiday if one falls in the assignment, one of two if two fall in the assignment, and two of three if three fall in the assignment
  • Local candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are not accepted
  • First-time travelers will be considered only if they have at least 2 years of L&D experience
