Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Labor & Delivery RN for a 13-week night shift assignment requiring 3 years of L&D experience and both KS and MO or compact RN licensure.

Details

  • Acute care hospital setting on an LDRP (Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum) unit
  • 74 staffed beds with under 100 births per month, community-level volume
  • Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
  • Patient ratios of 1:1 to 1:3
  • Weekend rotation of 4-6 Sat/Sun shifts plus 2 Fridays per 6-week schedule
  • Holiday coverage required: 1 major holiday (Thanksgiving or Christmas) and 1-2 minor holidays
  • 2 mandatory on-call shifts each 6-week schedule period
  • Charge RN assignments as needed per unit
  • Floating required within LDRP scope (triage, C-section circulating, antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum) and potentially between departments, units, and facilities
  • Full couplet care required
  • Epic charting system required
  • Care includes vaginal births, C-sections, antenatal testing (NSTs, BPP by radiology), post-op GYN care, external cephalic version, and antepartum patients

Requirements

  • Active RN license - both Kansas and Missouri licenses or compact license required in hand at time of consideration
  • BLS and NRP certifications required; AWHONN Advanced, AWHONN Intermediate, and FHM preferred
  • Minimum 3 years of L&D RN experience required, with 2 years of recent in-specialty experience within the past 12 months and no employment gaps greater than 90 days
  • Community hospital experience preferred
  • Travel RN experience required
  • Extensive L&D skill set required including IV therapy, amnioinfusion, vaginal delivery assistance, C-section circulating, forceps/vacuum extraction, hemorrhage management, and C-section recovery
  • Experience with antepartum, postpartum, and newborn care procedures including NSTs, EFM, breastfeeding support, and newborn assessments
  • Experience with medication administration including Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, antihypertensives, prostaglandins, and Terbutaline
  • Experience with fetal monitoring including internal/external monitoring, IUPC placement, and abnormal fetal heart rate recognition
  • 2 professional references required, one from a supervisor or above and one from a charge RN, both from within the past year

Additional Information

  • Provide comprehensive care across LDRP including triage, C-section circulating, antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum patients with full couplet care
  • Navy scrub color required
  • Free parking available
  • Compliance documents due 2 Fridays before start date, with 10-15 hours of onboarding modules due 1 week prior to start
  • Infusion pump and glucometer training must be completed by the Sunday prior to start
  • Labs must be completed within 48-72 hours of signing
  • Candidates must reside at least 75 miles from the facility; local candidates not accepted
  • Maximum RTO of 7 days, with all time off requests finalized at time of submission
  • Returning staff must have a 3-month break in service after 18 months of tenure; former permanent employees must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
  • Travel partners not accepted
  • Facility may extend an offer without an interview
