Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor and Delivery position requiring PA or Compact license and Cerner charting experience.

Details

• Work in the Labor and Delivery unit of a hospital setting
• Rotating shift schedule with Night (3x12, 19:00-7:00) and Day (3x12, 7:00-19:00) options
• Community-level facility with 200-300 births per month
• Patient ratio of 1:1-2
• Cerner charting system used
• Floating required within the hospital and to sister facilities within a 10-mile radius as needed

Requirements

• Active RN license (PA or Compact) required
• Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience required
• Current certifications required: BLS, NRP, FHM, and AWHONN Intermediate (AWHONN Advanced preferred)
• AHA-issued certifications only accepted
• Cerner charting experience preferred
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Experience with high-risk delivery, vaginal delivery, and C-section circulation
• Skilled in fetal monitoring including external and internal fetal monitoring, IUPC placement, and recognition of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
• Experience caring for patients with pre-eclampsia, placenta previa, preterm labor, and other high-risk obstetric conditions
• Postpartum care skills including hemorrhage management, couplet care, and cesarean section recovery

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive labor, delivery, and postpartum nursing care including antepartum monitoring, newborn care, and pain management support
• Assist with high-risk deliveries, C-sections, and management of obstetric emergencies such as hemorrhage and uterine rupture
• Support newborn care including APGAR scoring, thermoregulation, and discharge teaching to parents
• Candidates must be available to work every other holiday
• Local candidates accepted at the travel rate
• Travel pairs considered based on facility need, though matching schedules cannot be guaranteed
• Former permanent employees of the facility are not eligible to return as travelers
• Two supervisor references preferred
