Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring 2 years of L&D experience and Epic charting proficiency.

Details

• Work in the Labor & Delivery unit of a teaching hospital
• High-volume facility with 200-300+ births per month
• Night shift schedule with 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• 36 hours per week
• May be required to float within the facility
• Uses Epic EMR system

Requirements

• Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery experience required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NRP
• AWHONN Advanced certification required (NCC C-EFM acceptable in lieu of AWHONN Advanced)
• Required skills: IV therapy/phlebotomy, starting and maintaining IVs, drawing venous blood, administration of blood and blood products, maintaining central lines (CVC/PICC), and use of infusion pumps/drips/IV monitoring
• Epic EMR experience required
• Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
• 2 professional references required, with at least 1 from a Manager/Director or formal leadership role and the second from a Charge RN (no coworker references accepted)

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive labor and delivery nursing care including antepartum, postpartum, and high-risk antepartum patients
• Perform neonatal care in the delivery room including APGAR scoring, cord sample collection, and use of radiant warmers for thermoregulation
• Provide postpartum care including breastfeeding/lactation support, fundus/lochia/perineum care, and wound assessment
• Assist with surgical procedures including circulating and recovering C-sections
• Manage fetal monitoring including external and internal fetal heart monitoring and IUPC placement and calibration
• Administer medications including magnesium sulfate therapy and Pitocin
• Perform triage of obstetrical patients and non-stress tests
• Previous travel experience is preferred though not required, making this role open to first-time travelers
• Local candidates are accepted at the same pay rate
• Former employees are eligible for a travel assignment once they have been away from the facility for 6 months or more
• Current employees of the health system are ineligible to be hired as a traveler at any facility within the system
• Requested time off must be submitted with the initial contract and built into the assignment, limited to 7 days or less
• Candidates must complete an urgent fingerprinting process in Ohio immediately upon signing the contract
