Description

American Traveler is hiring a Labor & Delivery RN for a night shift assignment requiring prior travel experience and a minimum of 2 years of L&D nursing experience.

Details

• Community hospital setting within the Labor and Delivery unit
• Patient ratio of 1:2
• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (18:45-07:15)
• Charting system experience required (currently Paragon, transitioning to Epic by 2028)
• Must be willing to float within the hospital as needed

Requirements

• Active LA state or compact RN license required at time of consideration
• Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience required
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• Community hospital experience required
• BLS and NRP certifications required
• ACLS, AWHONN Advanced, and FHM certifications preferred
• Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and maintaining central lines
• Experience with high-risk delivery, C-section circulation/scrubbing, and vaginal delivery assistance
• Proficient in fetal monitoring including EFM and interpretation of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
• One professional reference required
• Must disclose any license disciplinary actions at time of consideration

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include antepartum, labor, delivery, postpartum, and newborn care
• Manages high-risk conditions such as pre-eclampsia, placenta previa, and postpartum hemorrhage
• Administers medications including Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, and antihypertensives
• Provides newborn care including APGAR scoring, thermoregulation, and neonatal resuscitation support
• Orientation includes a virtual day followed by two on-site days with additional EMR training
• Local candidates are not accepted; permanent residence must be greater than 50 miles from the facility
• Former employees must be separated from the facility for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
• Holiday time-off requests should be kept to a minimum
• Teaching hospital, LTAC, and Trauma Level I/II experience are preferred but not required
