Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a high-risk Labor & Delivery unit requiring circulator skills and prior charge nurse experience.

Details

• High-risk Labor & Delivery unit averaging 2,100 deliveries per year
• Accepts transfer-ins with MFM outpatient consultation, though OB manages patients
• Private OB and family practice providers with delivery privileges; no laborists or hospital-owned providers
• Midwife coverage available only through family practice
• Level 3 NICU on-site; unit is not an LDRP
• Circulating for C-sections required
• Night shift, 3x12 hours (7:00 PM-7:30 AM), 36 hours per week
• No call requirements
• Floating required to Maternity/Mother-Baby units
• Occasional floating to postpartum
• Every other weekend required
• Epic EMR experience required

Requirements

• Active RN license (NH or Compact) required
• BLS, ACLS, and NRP certifications required
• AWHONN Intermediate certification preferred
• 1-3 years of L&D experience required
• Previous charge nurse experience required
• Circulator experience for C-sections required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Only AHA or American Red Cross certifications accepted

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive labor and delivery care including high-risk deliveries, vaginal deliveries, and C-section circulation and recovery
• Manage medication administration including Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, and antihypertensives
• Perform neonatal care in the delivery room including APGAR scoring and newborn assessments
• Support antepartum care including NSTs, fetal monitoring, and obstetrical triage
• Assist with surgical procedures such as cervical cerclage and tubal ligation
• Provide postpartum care for cesarean section, couplet care, and hemorrhage management
• Manage pain interventions including epidural anesthesia and PCA
• Utilize internal and external fetal monitoring, including IUPC placement and calibration
• Floating expectations follow a Helping Hands/Team Nursing approach, including assistance to ICU and ED for limited-assignment task duties and 1:1 patient sitting
• Scrubs of any color are permitted
• Unit orientation includes 24 hours total, with one day for HealthStream and up to two days of on-unit orientation
• Drug screening must be completed within 14 days of the start date
• First-time travelers are not considered for this position
• Former employees of any facility associated with the health system are not eligible for consideration, regardless of separation length
• Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are accepted at the local rate
