Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor and Delivery position requiring a minimum of 2 years of experience and prior travel nursing experience.

Details

• Critical access hospital setting within the Labor and Delivery unit
• Facility performs fewer than 100 births per month
• Night shift schedule of 3x12 hours (7:00 PM to 7:00 AM)
• Every third weekend required
• Floating to different units may be required
• Centricity EMR experience preferred
• Block scheduling considered on a case-by-case basis by the manager

Requirements

• Active KS or compact RN license required at time of consideration
• Current certifications required: ACLS, BLS, and NRP
• Minimum of 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience required
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• Community hospital experience preferred
• Skilled in assisting with sterile speculum exams, NST, reflex checks, and sterile vaginal exams
• Experienced in the use of External Fetal Monitoring (EFM)
• Proficient in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and medication administration
• Experienced in managing high-risk and vaginal deliveries, including forceps/vacuum extraction and C-Sections
• Skilled in neonatal and newborn care, including APGAR scoring and newborn assessments
• Experienced in postpartum care, including care for Cesarean Section and multiple births
• One professional reference required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive care across antepartum, labor and delivery, and postpartum stages
• Assist with vaginal deliveries, forceps/vacuum extractions, and recovery from C-Sections
• Manage administration of medications including Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, and Antihypertensives
• Deliver neonatal care in the delivery room, including thermoregulation and initial newborn assessments
• Provide newborn care including cord care, discharge teaching, and metabolic screening
• Support postpartum recovery including fundus, lochia, and perineum care, as well as breastfeeding support
• Assist with surgical cases such as Cervical Cerclage
• Perform fetal monitoring, including recognition of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns and IUPC placement
• Provide pain management support, including epidural anesthesia care
• Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate
