Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) – Travel Nursing Contract in Columbus, Ohio
Labor & Delivery travel nurse opportunity in Columbus, Ohio, for an experienced RN seeking a high-acuity Level 4 L&D assignment.
Join a high-acuity Labor & Delivery team in Columbus, Ohio, and make a meaningful impact caring for patients and newborns throughout the birthing experience. This 13-week, on-site travel nursing assignment offers the opportunity to work in a Level 4 L&D setting with approximately 450 deliveries per month, comprehensive interdisciplinary support, and exposure to a diverse range of obstetric and neonatal care needs.
Travel Nursing Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,050–$2,160

- End Date: February 15, 2027
- Shift: Night shift, 7:00 p.m.–7:30 a.m.
- Schedule: Three 12-hour shifts per week; 36 hours per week
- Setting: Level 4 Labor & Delivery unit with approximately 450 deliveries per month
- Patient Population: Neonates, adolescents, and adults
- Patient Ratios: Approximately 1:1 on days and nights
- Floating: May be required to float to antepartum and other units within the health system as needed
- Orientation: 36 hours
- Work Environment: On-site with support from IV teams, respiratory services, pharmacy, radiology, rapid response, social services, and other interdisciplinary departments
Labor & Delivery RN Job Requirements
- At least 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery nursing experience required
- Current Registered Nurse license, with a valid compact or Ohio RN license in hand at the time of submission
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NRP certifications required
- AWHONN Advanced certification required; NCC C-EFM certification may be accepted in lieu of AWHONN Advanced
- Epic electronic medical record experience required
- Recent experience starting and maintaining IVs in an acute-care setting
- Completion of an ACEN- or CCNE-accredited nursing program
- Two professional references required, including at least one reference from a manager, director, supervisor, or other formal leader
- Previous travel nursing experience preferred
- Must be prepared to complete Ohio fingerprinting and credentialing requirements promptly after accepting the assignment
- Flu vaccination required; medical exemptions may be considered
Labor & Delivery RN Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to antepartum, laboring, postpartum, and high-risk obstetric patients
- Monitor maternal and fetal status using external and internal fetal monitoring, NSTs, IUPCs, and fetal scalp electrodes as appropriate
- Recognize and respond to abnormal fetal heart rate patterns and obstetric emergencies
- Assist with vaginal deliveries, cesarean sections, recoveries, and high-risk births
- Administer and monitor Pitocin, magnesium sulfate, epidural therapies, blood products, and other ordered medications or infusions
- Perform triage, sterile vaginal examinations, cervical assessments, and ongoing pain assessments
- Provide postpartum care, including fundus, lochia, perineal, wound, edema, reflex, and clonus assessments
- Support breastfeeding and lactation needs while promoting patient education and family-centered care
- Complete APGAR scoring, newborn identification and security procedures, cord sample collection, and thermoregulation support
- Maintain accurate documentation in Epic and collaborate closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, and interdisciplinary teams
- Float to other designated units when needed while maintaining safe, high-quality patient care
