Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position at an acute care hospital in Oklahoma, requiring a minimum of 3 years of L&D experience, Epic proficiency, and an active OK or Compact RN license.

Details

  • Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 6:30 PM – 7:00 AM
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:3
  • Labor & Delivery unit within a 171-bed Level 3 Trauma Center acute care hospital
  • Patient population includes laboring patients, antepartum, postpartum, and high-risk cases
  • Charting via Epic (experience required)
  • Every-other-weekend requirement (16 weekend shifts per 13-week contract)
  • Floating within scope to provide helping hands — travelers will not take a patient assignment, serve as a sitter, or take charge
  • No on-call requirement
  • Scrub color varies by unit
  • Free parking on-site

Requirements

  • Active Oklahoma RN license or Compact RN license required at time of consideration — pending licenses are not accepted
  • Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NRP
  • Certifications preferred: AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring, STABLE
  • Minimum 3 years of Labor & Delivery RN experience required
  • Epic charting experience required
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Proficient in L&D skills including: labor management, amnioinfusion, C-section circulator, forceps/vacuum assist, hemorrhage/shock management, postpartum hemorrhage, antepartum care, and external/internal fetal monitoring
  • Proficient in neonatal delivery room care including APGAR scoring, ID/security banding, and radiant warmer use
  • Proficient in medication administration including Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, Prostaglandins, antihypertensives, insulin drips, and Terbutaline
  • Proficient in IV therapy, phlebotomy, infusion pump management, and blood product administration
  • One manager- or unit supervisor-level reference from within the past year in a relevant specialty required for consideration (charge RN references are not accepted)

Additional Information

  • Minimum of two successful travel assignments required — first-time travelers will not be considered
  • Candidates who have previously worked at this facility as a traveler or permanent employee may not be eligible
  • Local candidates are accepted
  • RTO is capped at 5 days for the 13-week assignment; no additional RTO will be granted after submission or during the contract
  • No RTO approved the day before, the day of, or the day after a major holiday
  • Block scheduling and special scheduling requests are not permitted
  • The facility enforces a zero-fault attendance policy — any missed shift, regardless of reason, is counted as unexcused; 2 missed shifts result in a warning and 3 or more may result in cancellation
  • Required pre-start modules must be completed before the first day; modules average 3–4 hours
  • No background or license history issues are permitted
