Description

American Traveler is hiring a Labor & Delivery RN for a Level III high-risk perinatal unit, requiring 2 years of L&D experience and WA or compact RN licensure.

Details

• Level III high-risk perinatal unit with 19 labor and delivery beds, 10 antepartum beds, 30 postpartum beds, 3 ORs, 2 PACU bays, and a 7-bay triage area
• Facility handles 200-300 deliveries per month
• Target staffing ratios of 1:1 in labor, 1:3 couplet care in postpartum with CNA support, and 1:2-3 in antepartum
• Unit supported by surgical techs, CNAs, delivering providers, CRNAs, and health unit coordinators around the clock
• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 7:30
• Weekend rotation required
• Floating required to Postpartum unit
• No call requirements
• Uses Epic EMR

Requirements

• Active WA or compact RN license required at time of consideration
• Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery experience required, following AWHONN standards
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, and AWHONN Intermediate or Relias Fetal Monitoring
• AWHONN Advanced certification preferred
• Epic EMR experience required
• Experience in facilities with 200+ deliveries preferred; candidates from facilities with 100-200 deliveries will also be considered
• Sterile vaginal exam (SVE) skill is a hardstop requirement
• Skills required include IV therapy/phlebotomy, administration of blood and blood products, labor and delivery management, assisting with high-risk and vaginal deliveries, circulating for C-sections, and recovering C-section patients
• Experience with medication administration including antihypertensives, magnesium sulfate therapy, pitocin, and terbutaline
• Neonatal care skills including APGAR scoring, neonatal resuscitation, and newborn assessment required
• Experience with external fetal monitoring (EFM) and recognition of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns required
• Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years required

• Provide comprehensive care across labor, antepartum, and postpartum units, including high-risk perinatal cases
• Located at the Pavilion for Women and Children, offering comprehensive maternity services and a Level II NICU
• Facility is part of a Level II Trauma Center campus
• Scrubs of any color permitted except reddish-orange
• Parking provided at no cost
• Travelers must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
• All RTO requests must be submitted at the time of application, as post-submission requests may not be accommodated
• Travelers may be required to float between sister facilities within the same health system
• Local candidates are not accepted; a 50-mile radius rule applies for eligibility
• Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler and must reside more than 50 miles from the facility
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Only one submission to a Providence facility is allowed at a time
