Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Labor and Delivery position requiring 2+ years of L&D experience and prior travel nursing experience.

Details

  • Hospital-based Labor and Delivery unit at a teaching hospital with 200-300 births per month
  • 8 labor rooms and 4 triage rooms
  • Cares for patients in labor and preterm labor, high risk antepartum, low risk antepartum, low risk L&D, and couplet care
  • Responsibilities include circulating, OB-GYN care, pre-op/post-op, scrub duties, and transition nursery care
  • Attends all deliveries including high risk deliveries and GYN surgeries
  • Performs special procedures including blood/blood product administration, cardioversion/defibrillation, cooling/warming blanket use, drain management, epidural pumps, PCA pumps, syringe pumps, and wound vac care
  • Administers medications including heparin, insulin, and magnesium sulfate
  • Staffing ratio of 1:1 to 1:3
  • Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 07:30
  • Float required to Postpartum and NICU based on skill set
  • Uses Epic EMR system

Requirements

  • Active WA or Compact RN license required in hand at time of submission
  • Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience required
  • Prior travel nursing experience required; first-time travelers not accepted
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Required certifications: BLS, FHM, NRP, and AWHONN Intermediate
  • ACLS certification preferred
  • Skills required include IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood and blood product administration, central line maintenance (CVC/PICC), anticoagulation therapy, antihypertensive administration, insulin drips, and magnesium sulfate therapy
  • Labor and delivery management skills required including assisting with high risk deliveries, circulating and recovering C-sections, sterile vaginal exams, epidural anesthesia support, and PCA pain management
  • Experience with fetal monitoring, IUPC placement and calibration, and obstetrical triage required
  • Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years required
  • Full SSN and DOB required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Travelers may be required to float between sister facilities near the contracted location
  • Must commit to working 3 of the 5 designated holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day
  • All RTO and scheduling requests must be submitted upfront; requests made after submission may not be granted
  • Local candidates accepted at the same bill rate
  • Candidates should reside within a 50-mile radius of the facility
  • Former permanent staff may return as travelers after a 3-month separation period, provided they reside outside the 50-mile radius
  • Candidates must disclose any prior work history with Providence facilities, including permanent, travel, or per-diem roles
  • Only one submission to a Providence facility is allowed at a time
