Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Labor & Delivery RN for a high-volume, high-acuity birthing unit requiring 2+ years of L&D experience and NC or compact RN licensure.

Details

• High-risk maternity unit providing intrapartum, antepartum, and postpartum obstetrical care
• Facility performs over 300 births per month with average 20 births per 24 hours and 30-40 admissions daily
• Obstetrical triage unit performing antenatal fetal surveillance, IV hydration, and medication administration
• Scheduled and unscheduled Cesarean births and rescue cervical cerclage performed
• 2:1 patient ratio with 20 rooms and 40 visits per day
• Night shift schedule, 12-hour shifts from 18:45 to 07:15
• Every other weekend required, minimum 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule
• Float required as needed to similar high-risk maternity settings
• No on-call requirement
• Contract lengths range from 13 to 26 weeks
• Uses PYXIS, Epic, and SBAR communication systems

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license (pending acceptable at submission)
• Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery experience required; 3 years preferred
• Experience in a large or high-volume L&D setting required for first-time travelers
• BLS, AWHONN Intermediate, and NRP certifications required; AWHONN Advanced preferred; C-EFM accepted in lieu of AWHONN
• Circulate for C-section experience strongly preferred
• Sterile vaginal exam competency required
• Immediate newborn care competency required
• Epic charting experience required
• Skilled in labor and delivery management, cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and infant/neonatal arrest response
• Experience with antepartum care procedures including oxytocin challenge tests and obstetrical triage
• Experience with IV therapy and phlebotomy including starting and maintaining IVs

• Fast-paced, high-acuity unit with double labor assignments occurring daily
• 24-hour unit orientation provided
• Scrubs provided by facility (blue)
• First-time travelers considered if they have experience in a comparable high-volume setting
• Former Novant Health or New Hanover employees (perm, PRN, or EP) must wait 12 months before reapplying and must disclose prior employment details for facility approval
• Local candidates within 50 miles accepted at a lower pay rate
• Up to 7 days of RTO can be auto-approved if it does not fall on a holiday; no RTO permitted during the first week of assignment
• Must work 2 of 3 major holidays
• Travel pairs allowed if placed on different units and disclosed at submission
• Weekly orientation schedule
