Travel Registered Nurse (RN) – Labor & Delivery | 13-Week Contract in Winfield, Kansas

Join a dedicated Labor & Delivery team as a Travel Registered Nurse in Winfield, Kansas. This 13-week travel nursing contract offers an opportunity to provide compassionate maternal-newborn care to birthing patients, postpartum families, and newborns in a critical access setting. The ideal candidate is an experienced Labor & Delivery RN who is confident caring for high-risk pregnancies, supporting vaginal and cesarean deliveries, and responding effectively to changing clinical conditions.

Travel Nursing Job Details

• Location: Winfield, Kansas
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,130–$2,250
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks
• Start Date: October 26, 2026
• End Date: January 25, 2027
• Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 12-hour night shifts
• Shift Hours: 7:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m.
• Hours per Week: 36
• Weekend Requirement: Every third weekend
• Healthcare Setting: Critical access Labor & Delivery unit
• Electronic Charting: Centricity experience preferred
• Scheduling: Block scheduling considered on a case-by-case basis

Labor & Delivery RN Job Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse experience
• Previous travel nursing or travel RN experience required
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Active Kansas RN license or compact RN license in hand at submission
• Current ACLS, BLS, and NRP certifications
• COVID-19 vaccination required; no exemptions available
• Strong clinical judgment and the ability to work independently in a critical access environment
• Willingness to float to another unit when operationally needed

Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive obstetric nursing care throughout labor, delivery, recovery, and the postpartum period
• Monitor maternal and fetal status using external and internal fetal monitoring, NSTs, and related assessments
• Recognize and respond to abnormal fetal heart rate patterns and obstetric emergencies
• Assist with vaginal deliveries, forceps or vacuum extractions, cesarean sections, and cervical cerclage procedures
• Manage IV therapy, infusion pumps, Pitocin, magnesium sulfate, antihypertensives, terbutaline, and other obstetric medications
• Support high-risk pregnancies, antepartum patients, pregnancy-induced hypertension, hemorrhage, and postpartum complications
• Provide newborn assessment and care, including APGAR scoring, thermoregulation, hypoglycemia monitoring, metabolic screening, and phototherapy
• Support breastfeeding and lactation education, discharge teaching, cord care, circumcision care, and infant identification procedures
• Maintain accurate documentation, administer blood and blood products as indicated, and collaborate with interdisciplinary support services
