Overview

This night-shift Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse position is ideal for an experienced obstetric RN who thrives in a busy, high-risk environment. The role includes labor support, circulating for C-sections, immediate newborn care, and opportunities to apply advanced maternal-child nursing skills in a dynamic Seattle healthcare setting.

Job Details

• Location: Seattle, WA 98122
• Setting: High-risk, high-volume Labor & Delivery unit
• Shift: 4 night shifts per week, 12 hours each (19:00–07:30)
• Shift Duration: 12 Hour Nights
• Weekly Hours: 36
• Contract Length: 26 weeks
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $2,160–$2,270
• Orientation: 36 hours
• Schedule: Posted every 6 weeks based on unit needs
• Float: Required to postpartum, antepartum, and between nearby campuses as needed
• Weekend/Holiday Coverage: Weekend coverage required; commitment to selected holidays expected

Job Requirements

• 3+ years of Labor & Delivery RN experience required; high-acuity/high-risk obstetrics experience strongly preferred
• Current Registered Nurse license with compact license in hand at submission
• Active BLS and NRP required
• ACLS and AWHONN Advanced or Intermediate preferred
• Epic charting experience required
• Must be able to circulate for C-sections
• Must be able to function as Baby Nurse during delivery and continue newborn care until transfer to postpartum
• Required newborn care skills include eyes and thighs, Vit K injections, newborn assessments, and thermoregulation support
• Must have experience with electronic fetal monitoring and high-risk obstetric care
• Current supervisory references required
• Proof of required certifications must be submitted

Responsibilities

• Provide expert nursing care in a high-risk, high-volume Labor & Delivery environment
• Support laboring patients, vaginal deliveries, and recovery care following C-sections
• Circulate in the operating room for cesarean deliveries
• Serve as the Baby Nurse at delivery and provide immediate newborn care until transfer to postpartum
• Monitor fetal status and respond appropriately to changes in maternal or fetal condition
• Administer and manage common obstetric medications and therapies as ordered
• Provide care for antepartum, postpartum, and mother-baby patients when floating is required
• Maintain accurate documentation in Epic and collaborate closely with the interdisciplinary care team
• Contribute to a positive, efficient, and patient-centered experience in a busy Seattle hospital
