Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse (L&D RN) – Travel Nursing Contract in Seattle, WA
Join a high-acuity Labor & Delivery travel nurse team in Seattle, Washington, caring for high-risk pregnancies, deliveries, and newborns in a fast-paced, high-volume setting. This on-site travel nursing assignment offers the opportunity to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team while serving a diverse patient population in one of the Pacific Northwest’s most vibrant and livable urban communities, known for its arts, culture, green spaces, waterfront, and outdoor recreation.
Travel Nursing Job Details

- Duration: 26 weeks
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,160–$2,270
- Schedule: 12-hour day shifts, 7:00 a.m. – 7:30 p.m.; 36 hours per week
- Unit Environment: High-risk, high-volume Labor & Delivery unit with approximately 15–17 patients per day, 31 beds, four operating rooms, and approximately 550 births per month
- Scheduling: Posted approximately every six weeks based on unit needs; weekend and holiday coverage required as scheduled
- Floating: May float to Antepartum, Postpartum, Mother/Baby, nearby campuses with applicable skills, or other clinical support assignments as needed
Labor & Delivery RN Job Requirements
- At least 1 year of recent Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse experience
- High-risk Labor & Delivery experience in a fast-paced, high-acuity hospital environment
- Current Registered Nurse license in Washington or an active compact nursing license
- Current BLS certification
- Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
- Epic documentation experience, including electronic fetal monitoring workflows
- Demonstrated ability to circulate for Cesarean sections
- Demonstrated ability to function as the delivery Baby Nurse and provide newborn care through transfer to postpartum
- Preferred: ACLS, AWHONN Advanced, and/or AWHONN Intermediate certification
- Ability to work weekends and holidays as scheduled and float when required
Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care for patients experiencing routine, complex, and high-risk labor and delivery
- Assist with vaginal deliveries, Cesarean sections, high-risk deliveries, forceps and vacuum extractions, and multiple births
- Circulate for Cesarean sections and support operating room procedures
- Serve as the Baby Nurse during delivery and continue care of the newborn until transfer to postpartum
- Perform newborn assessments, APGAR scoring, cord care, identification and security banding, thermoregulation, and administration of eye and vitamin K prophylaxis
- Monitor fetal heart rate patterns and respond appropriately to abnormal findings using electronic fetal monitoring
- Manage or assist with therapies including Pitocin, magnesium sulfate, insulin drips, heparin, antihypertensives, epidural anesthesia, and other obstetric medications
- Provide antepartum, postpartum, couplet-care, breastfeeding, and lactation support as assigned
- Recognize and respond to obstetric emergencies, including hemorrhage, shock, pregnancy-induced hypertension, and postpartum complications
- Document accurately in Epic and collaborate with physicians, midwives, respiratory services, pharmacy, social services, rapid response teams, and other members of the healthcare team
- Follow AWHONN-informed staffing and clinical practice guidelines while maintaining safe, compassionate, patient-centered care
