Travel Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) – Seattle, WA Contract
Experienced Labor & Delivery RN needed for a high-risk travel nursing assignment in Seattle, Washington. Support complex deliveries, C-sections, and immediate newborn care on a high-acuity, high-volume unit. This on-site travel contract is ideal for a confident L&D nurse with strong obstetric nursing and newborn care experience.

Travel Nursing Job Details

- Contract Duration: 26 weeks
- Schedule: Three 12-hour day shifts per week
- Shift Hours: 7:00 a.m.–7:30 p.m.
- Hours per Week: 36
- Unit Environment: High-risk, high-volume Labor & Delivery unit with approximately 15–17 patients per day, 31 beds, 4 operating rooms, and approximately 550 births per month
- Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend as needed
- Holiday Coverage: Holiday work may be required
- Floating: May float to postpartum or antepartum, and occasionally to nearby units or campuses for applicable assignments
Labor & Delivery RN Job Requirements
- At least 1 year of recent Labor & Delivery nursing experience
- Recent high-risk Labor & Delivery experience in a fast-paced, high-acuity hospital environment
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license; an active compact license must be in hand at submission when applicable
- Current BLS certification
- Current NRP certification
- Hands-on experience with electronic fetal monitoring and Epic documentation; OBIX fetal monitoring experience is valuable
- Proficiency circulating for C-sections and working as the baby nurse from delivery through transfer to postpartum
- Competency with newborn assessments, APGAR scoring, identification and security banding, eye prophylaxis, vitamin K administration, thermoregulation, and cord care
- Experience with high-risk antepartum care, fetal heart rate pattern recognition, vaginal and cesarean deliveries, postpartum hemorrhage, magnesium sulfate, insulin infusions, heparin, Pitocin, and other obstetric medications
- ACLS and AWHONN Advanced or Intermediate certifications preferred
- Ability to provide two professional references covering at least 1 year of experience within the past 3 years
Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse Responsibilities
- Deliver safe, evidence-based nursing care to obstetric patients in a high-volume Labor & Delivery setting
- Assist with high-risk vaginal deliveries, cesarean sections, multiple births, forceps or vacuum extractions, and other complex obstetric procedures
- Circulate for C-sections and support procedures performed in the unit’s operating rooms
- Serve as the baby nurse during delivery and continue immediate newborn care until transfer to postpartum
- Complete newborn assessments, APGAR scoring, identification and security procedures, eye care, vitamin K injections, thermoregulation, and cord care
- Perform fetal and maternal assessments, recognize abnormal fetal heart rate patterns, and promptly escalate changes
- Manage or assist with epidurals, IV therapy, Foley catheter care, magnesium sulfate, insulin drips, anticoagulation therapy, Pitocin, and other treatments within scope of practice
- Support patients and families through labor, delivery, recovery, and transition to postpartum care, including breastfeeding education and emotional support
- Document assessments and interventions accurately in Epic while following AWHONN-informed clinical practices
- Float to postpartum or antepartum areas and provide appropriate support in other designated units when needed
