Description

American Traveler is hiring a Labor & Delivery RN for a night shift assignment requiring C-EFM certification and at least one prior travel assignment.

• Labor and Delivery unit setting
• Night shift, 3x12 hours (18:50-07:20)
• Patient ratio of 1:2
• Cerner charting system preferred
• Charge experience preferred
• Scrub experience preferred with floating expected if qualified
• Mother/Baby experience preferred with floating expected if qualified
• Call required, 2 shifts per 6-week schedule
• Every other weekend required

Requirements

• Active MD RN license or compact license required
• Required certifications: BLS, NRP, STABLE, C-EFM (NCC) in hand at time of consideration
• ACLS preferred
• 3 years of Labor & Delivery experience preferred, 2 years with strong experience may be considered
• 2 years of recent experience within the last 7 years required
• Must have completed at least one prior travel assignment
• Teaching hospital, community hospital, and Trauma Level I experience preferred
• Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and administration of blood products
• Experienced in labor and delivery management including amnioinfusion, high risk and vaginal delivery assistance, and C-section circulation
• Scrubbing for C-section preferred
• Two supervisory references required, including one from the most recent assignment, supporting at least 2 years of experience in the previous 3 years

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive labor and delivery nursing care including antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, and newborn care
• Support high-risk antepartum and high-risk delivery cases as needed
• Administer medications including Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, antihypertensives, and antiseizure medications
• Assist with fetal monitoring including external and internal fetal heart monitoring and IUPC placement
• Provide postpartum care including cesarean section recovery, hemorrhage management, and lactation support
• Support newborn care including APGAR scoring, thermoregulation, and infant identification
• No RTO permitted during the first two weeks of the assignment
• Maximum of 7 days RTO per 13-week contract
• Local candidates within 60 miles accepted at a lower rate
• Previous MedStar employees must have a minimum one-year separation before returning as a traveler
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
