Description

American Traveler is seeking a Labor & Delivery RN with High Risk OB experience for a 13-week assignment requiring float capability to Postpartum and Antepartum units.

Details

• Labor and Delivery unit within a short-term acute care hospital with 418 staffed beds
• Facility performs 200-300 births per month
• High Risk OB, High Risk Antepartum, and Postpartum patient populations
• Patient ratios of 1:1 and 1:3 couplet care
• Evening (3x12, 15:00-03:00) or Day (3x12, 11:00-23:00) shifts, with primary schedule set to days or nights
• Every other weekend required
• On-call required if shift is cancelled
• 48-hour work weeks approved
• Floating to other units and sister facilities based on skill set and unit needs
• Uses Epic EMR

Requirements

• Active RN license (Compact must be in hand at time of submission)
• OR RN license required
• BLS and NRP certification required; AWHONN Intermediate certification preferred
• Minimum 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery experience required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Skills required include IV therapy, use of infusion pumps, EFM monitoring, and assisting with vaginal deliveries
• Preferred skills include administration of blood products, amnioinfusion, high risk delivery assistance, and forceps/vacuum extraction
• Preferred experience with antihypertensives, antiseizure medications, insulin drips, and prostaglandins
• Preferred experience assisting with sterile speculum exams and NSTs
• Preferred experience with D&C and tubal ligation procedures

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include labor and delivery management, neonatal care in the delivery room, postpartum care, and newborn assessments
• Care for patients with pre-eclampsia/eclampsia and abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
• Must have a personal vehicle for this assignment
• Scrubs provided for OR/L&D staff; any color scrub accepted facility-wide
• No parking fees at this facility
• Must commit to working 3 of 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
• All RTO and scheduling requests must be submitted upfront; post-offer RTO requests may not be granted
• Former Providence facility employees may return as travelers after a 3-month waiting period, but not within 50 miles of the facility
• Local candidates within a 50-mile radius accepted at a lower bill rate
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years are required
