Requirements

• 2 years of Labor & Delivery RN experience required.
• First-time travelers accepted.
• Active compact RN license accepted.
• Epic experience required.
• BLS required.
• FHM required.
• NRP required.
• AWHONN Intermediate required.
• ACLS preferred.
• Experience with labor and preterm labor.
• Experience with low-risk antepartum and Labor & Delivery care.
• OB-GYN experience required.
• Pre-op and post-op experience.
• Scrub and circulating experience.
• Experience attending routine and high-risk deliveries.
• Experience with GYN surgical procedures.
• Couplet care and transition nursery experience.
• Experience with blood and blood product administration.
• Experience with epidural, PCA, and syringe pumps.
• Experience with Heparin, Insulin, and Magnesium Sulfate.
• Ability to float to Postpartum and potentially another L&D unit.
• Must be able to meet holiday coverage requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to antepartum, laboring, postpartum, and high-risk obstetric patients.
• Assess and monitor maternal and fetal conditions throughout labor and delivery.
• Provide care for patients experiencing labor and preterm labor.
• Attend and assist with routine and high-risk deliveries.
• Provide low-risk antepartum and L&D care.
• Perform pre-op and post-op care for OB-GYN procedures.
• Scrub and circulate during applicable surgical procedures.
• Provide GYN surgical patient care.
• Provide couplet care and assist with transition nursery needs.
• Administer and monitor medications including Heparin, Insulin, and Magnesium Sulfate.
• Manage epidural, PCA, and syringe pumps.
• Administer and monitor blood and blood products.
• Assist with cardioversion/defibrillation procedures as needed.
• Manage drains, wound VACs, and other specialized equipment.
• Maintain accurate patient documentation in Epic.
• Collaborate with physicians, midwives, anesthesia providers, and the multidisciplinary team.
• Follow patient-safety, infection-control, and AWHONN standards.
• Float to Postpartum and other assigned L&D areas as required.
• Participate in required holiday coverage and support unit needs.
