Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring Cerner experience and prior travel nursing experience.

Details

• Labor and Delivery unit within a hospital setting handling 100-200 births per month
• Level II Trauma facility
• Patient population includes antepartum, high risk antepartum, mother/baby, and LDRP care
• Patient ratio of 1:3
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours, 18:45-07:15
• Required to work every third weekend
• Uses Cerner EMR
• Candidates may float to all competent units within the facility
• Unit scrub color is navy blue

Requirements

• Active RN license (MO or Compact) required at time of submission
• Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, NRP, and AWHONN Intermediate (AWHONN Advanced preferred)
• CPI certification will be required starting January 2026
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required, including Level II trauma experience
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Cerner charting system experience required
• Charge nurse experience preferred
• Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
• Skilled in administration of blood/blood products, CVC/PICC line maintenance, and peripheral IV starts
• Experience with high-risk medications including anticonvulsants, antihypertensives, heparin, insulin drips, magnesium sulfate therapy, and oxytocin
• Experience with newborn assessment, neonatal abstinence syndrome, and discharge teaching
• Experience with couplet care, incision care, isolation precautions, phlebotomy, and vaccine administration
• Skilled in circumcision assistance, car seat education, and cord care
• Experience with pain management including epidural anesthesia and PCA IV use preferred
• Skilled in phototherapy, thermoregulation, and care of large-for-gestational-age and low birth weight infants preferred
• Breastfeeding/lactation support and breast pump use experience preferred
• At least one professional reference required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive labor and delivery nursing care including fetal monitoring, antepartum/postpartum care, and newborn assessment
• Assist with vaginal deliveries, C-sections, and high-risk deliveries
• Support baby-friendly protocols and couplet care practices
• Complete facility-specific HealthStream education modules prior to start, with ongoing timely completion required throughout the assignment
• Locals accepted at the same rate with no radius restriction
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
• Previous employees must have a break in service of at least one year before returning
• Holiday coverage requirements apply as scheduled
